C.I.A. Launches Radio Ad Campaign To Recruit Spies??

For the first time ever, the C.I.A. has launched a national radio advertising campaign aimed at recruiting more spies for clandestine service. In particular, the agency is looking for more minorities and those with advanced foreign language skills. According to Time Magazine, the C.I.A. is not hurting for applications. It received more that 100,000 resumes last year and the number is growing fast. Did you see our recent post about federal jobs (in particular C.I.A. jobs) being the hot ticket for young people?

More Young People Lining Up for Jobs in Government and Intelligence

Oasis Rock Star Captured on Google Street View?

Let’s face it. We rarely see rock stars out in public. As much as we would love to run into Keith Richards at the grocery store, or local pub, it just does not happen. They seems to live on a different plane than us regular folks. So, we were surprised to find this news story about Google Street View capturing an image of Oasis frontman, Liam Gallagher, enjoying a pint of beer outside of a local pub in north London.

CIA Chief: Hollywood Gets Spy World All Wrong; Really??

Last week, new C.I.A. Director Leon Panetta sent along a memo to his his troops upon coming home from his first big trip abroad to India and Pakistan. The intention of the memo was to convey how impressed he was with the professionalism and dedication of agency personnel. Friday’s Food for Thought: The Big Blue Marble, George Carlin and Other Environmental News

Does anyone remember the kids’ TV show from the 70′s called “The Big Blue Marble”? While the show was more about embracing a multicultural existence for children, we are bringing it up more because the “big blue marble” seems to be popping up in the news. From our recent post on the intelligence community acknowledging climate change as a national security threat to mapping shoreline erosion off of the Chesapeake Bay, the environment keeps coming up.
