President Obama Did Not Know What The NGA Was??

In what we are calling truly astounding news, it was discovered that President Obama did not know what the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency was? How was this uncovered? During a stop off for burgers at Five Guys with members of the press, Obama happened to have an interaction with an NGA employee who was buying a burger there at the same time. And, President Obama actually asked “what is this National Geospatial…” Too hard too believe? Check out this C-SPAN video of the interaction. In addition, props to Politico.com for breaking this story. What do you all think about this?? Since many of us sleep, eat and breath GEOINT, we find this to be pretty shocking. Welcome to the latest installment of Friday’s Food for Thought. While many of us work in the intelligence community, we often forget what the term “intelligence” is really all about. According to Wikipedia, intelligence is an umbrella term used to describe a property of the mind that encompasses many related abilities. From our perspective, it is about the development and analysis of actionable information that can help our nation defend and protect itself. But, really, both meanings are very intertwined. USGIF and KMI Create “Geospatial Intelligence Forum,” Official Publication of the Foundation

In an effort to further promote and advance the geospatial intelligence tradecraft, the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) and KMI Media Group (KMI) today announced their newly formed partnership that will essentially re-branding KMI’s highly respected industry magazine, Military Geospatial Technology (MGT), which will become Geospatial Intelligence Forum – Official Publication of the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation. USGIF Supports Geospatial Documentary with $50,000 Donation

The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation announced today its official endorsement and leadership support for the development of Penn State Public Broadcasting’s Geospatial Revolution Project, an integrated public media and outreach initiative, about the world of digital mapping and how it’s affecting our world, in the form of a $50,000 donation. Breaking News: House Rejects Probe into Pelosi CIA Claims

Today, House Democrats defeated a Republican push to investigate House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s claims that the CIA misled her in 2002 about whether waterboarding had been used against terrorism suspects. The House voted 252-172 to block the measure that would have created a bipartisan congressional panel. Pelosi was not present for the vote today as she was giving a commencement speech at John’s Hopkins University. Her spokesperson said that the proposed probe was an attempt at partisan politics that distracts from real issues. Read more about it here.
