Michael G. Vickers, Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and GEOINT 2011 keynote speaker, recently issued a Department of Defense Instruction on Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) that “establishes policies, assigns responsibilities, and provides guidance for GEOINT operations within the DoD.” The newly issued instruction reinforces the vital role that GEOINT plays in our national security and calls for this “high priority” effort to be conducted in a unified and synchronized manner.
