ESRI Federal Users Conference Round Up
Added by USGIF Category: Daily Intelligence Brief, General
For those who cannot attend this week’s ESRI Federal Users Conference in Washington, DC, we wanted to provide this following round up. Also, our got geoint? T-shirts were a huge hit. We gave away almost 200 of them yesterday. So, for those proud folks who own a got geoint? t-shirt, and want to be featured on this blog, feel free to send along a photo of you wearing the shirt and we will post it on an upcoming “Friday’s Food for Thought” post. You can email them to us at pressideas (at) usgif.org. In the meantime, here’s a round up of news from the event:
- Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley delivered the Keynote Address yesterday. O’Malley is a longtime advocate of using geographic information systems (GIS) for improved accountability and transparency in government. He discussed his successful GIS-based performance measurement initiatives and how this approach can be used in federal government.
- NAVTEQ announced that it has again been selected as the primary map data provider for both the IRRIS and MilitaryHOMEFRONT LBS applications used by the United States Military personnel.
- LizardTech announced that it is showcasing its line of geospatial software products, which enable an efficient workflow for high-volume, high-resolution image management. Be sure to check them out at Booth #321.
- TerraGo Technologies announced the availability of Composer for Server® – a new solution that enables grab-and-go access to all types of geo-located content from an ESRI ArcGIS Server. Check them out at Booth #123.
- Adapx showcased its Capturx software, GIS field data collection tool using digital pens for efficient GIS collection, at the event as well as at the International Development paper session. According to the company’s press release, more than 28 federal agencies and numerous state and local governments are using Capturx to enable maps, forms, designs, and notes to be printed on ordinary paper, marked up with a digital pen, and then integrated directly into ESRI® ArcGIS, Microsoft® Office, and CAD applications.
Today is the last day of the event. If you can break out and come down to the convention center, we highly recommend it! It’s worth the trip. And remember, send along those photos of you wearing got geoint? t-shirts!
