Friday’s Food for Thought: Life is a Beach and Living the Dream
Added by USGIF Category: Daily Intelligence Brief, Friday's Food for Thought
Welcome once again to our Friday’s Food for Thought post. We hope everyone had a productive week and that you are counting down the hours to quitting time. Well, what better way to pass the day, then to read our ever-popular FFT post! This week’s theme is all about how life is a beach (or it could be) and are we all really living the dream? Also, be sure to scroll down to the bottom of this post. We showcase a classic video from the 80’s about getting out of someone’s dream and into their car.
Gates Takes Aim at the Military’s Spending Wish Lists
First up, we are going to highlight some more serious news. According to a recent article in Time Magazine, Defense Secretary Robert Gates is determined to crack down on what are known inside the Pentagon as “unfunded priority lists” and on Capitol Hill — to make them more palatable to skeptical lawmakers — as unfunded “requirements” or “mandates.” In other news, Gates said backers of Lockheed Martin Corp. F-22 fighters are using “far- fetched” arguments in their bid to overturn the Obama administration’s decision to curtail the $65 billion program. Read more here.
Do You Have What it Takes to Make “Life a Beach”?
We all do it. We get together with friends over dinner and drinks and discuss what how cool it would be to “live the dream” and move off to a tropical island and live on the beach. How can that not sound appealing?? Of course many of us aren’t living off of a trust fund or married rich and have to work (unfortunately). Well, in this day of remote access technologies, why can’t we work from the beach? And guess what…it does to take much to work from the beach. Check out this ComputerWorld blog post that highlights everything you need to work from the beach. Start packing your bags.
Are You Actually Living Out Your Dreams?
Since we are talking about the practically universal dream of living on a beach, how often do you look at your life to see if you are living out your dreams? Did you reach the goals you set out for yourself when you were a kid? Did things turn out the way you wanted them to? If not, perhaps it is a good time to assess your dreams and strive to achieve them. Check out this article for further illumination.
All About Dream Mapping
How could we not bring highlight dream mapping in this post? Just kidding. We have never heard of it before, but according to this web site, Dream Mapping is a creative way of working with dreams through the construction of dream maps: image assemblages or collages derived directly from our dreams. Pretty clever how we tied the concept of maps back to dreams, huh?
