Added by USGIF Category: Friday's Food for Thought, General

We hope everyone had a productive work week. We are wrapping up the week with a unique Friday’s Food for Thought post that highlights the interesting, funny and down-right bizarre. From coverage of the intelligence community infiltrating the Web 2.0 world, to a bizarre iPhone application for snipers and an Olympic video added in for some light humor.

Web 2.0 and the Intelligence Community
First up – did you know that the NSA is on Twitter? That is correct…well, we think this is a legit Twitter handle. If this is true, we are excited that one of the most powerful intelligence agencies is embracing Web 2.0 and we recommend that everyone follow them. Here’s the link. The NSA also has a Facebook Fan Page. Check it out. The CIA also has a Facebook Fan Page. Check it out here.

Best iPhone App for Snipers
Yes, that is correct. We have stumbled upon an iPhone application that is ideal for snipers. It comes equipped with an attachment that mounts your iPhone to a rifle. Do you think it is possible to Tweet, download songs from Rhapsody, mobile upload onto Facebook and take out your target at the same time?

Technology that Silences UAVs
Aeroacoustics researchers at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) are developing a technology that completely silences unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). UAVs play a vital role in surveillance and reconnaissance for the the U.S. armed forces…and now the technology has gotten more advanced.

Better Information Sharing
In case you all missed the news coming out of the ODNI (and we are not talking about McConnell’s abrupt departure) on steps taken to improve information sharing, here’s the latest coverage: Wall Street Journal, FCW and CQ Politics.

Dose of Humor
Finally, check out this hilarious video — this one is made for Friday’s Food for Thought:

Loved this video of the biathlon. It adds a new tactical factor to the sport. I also liked the iPhone app. Too bad you can’t try before you buy. I don’t think it would work in any service rifle competition but it could be fun. This is why I love my iPhone.
    Thanks!
