GeoEye Produces Striking Financial Results; Doubles Revenue in Q2
Added by USGIF Category: Daily Intelligence Brief
We certainly embrace stories about USGIF members and major players doing well. And, we have a story to share along those lines. GeoEye reported that second-quarter revenue more than doubled to $72.7 million from $34.2 million from Q2 last year. The increase in business is a result of the government’s demand for the company’s high-resolution digital imaging. The company said that government revenue in the second quarter was $47.5 million, almost two-thirds of total revenues for the period.
Here’s a quote from GeoEye CEO Matt O’Connell: “We are very pleased with the strong year-over-year revenue growth and operating performance in the second quarter. The operating success and financial results of the second quarter are due in large part because we are finally reaping the benefits of GeoEye-1.”
Way to go GeoEye!! This news certainly reinforces the viability of GEOINT in the government sector and shows just how vital commercial imagery is to the security of our nation.
