GEOINT 2010 Keynote: Hon. General James R. Clapper Keynote, 4th Director of National Intelligence (DNI), Discusses Vital Intelligence Integration
Added by USGIF Category: Daily Intelligence Brief, General

In a most appropriate fashion, the first GEOINT 2010 keynote speaker was none other that the Hon. James R. Clapper, Jr., the fourth Director of National Intelligence (DNI). General clapper provided an insightful summary on how he is changing the role of the ODNI to focus more on integration.
Before he provided his thoughts on IC integration and how he is “tweaking” the role of the ODNI, General Clapper discussed how the thwarting of the air cargo bomb plot was a remarkable amalgam of the intelligence, homeland security and first responders that effectively mitigated this nefarious and devious attack. Though, he reiterated that the IC “won’t always bat 1,000” when it comes to stopping attacks on our nation.
From there, he discussed his vision for making sure that the IC does bat close to 1,000 every time. The key, according to General Clapper, is pushing Intelligence integration with regards to collection and analysis as his number one priority. As many of our readers know, he is bringing together the disciplines of collection and analysis under one roof led by Mr. Robert Cardillo.
Certainly this change will help address the age-old issue of data sharing and collaboration. Kudos to General Clapper for making moves to break down the walls that hinder the IC from protecting our great nation. Stay tuned for video!
