GEOINT Tradecraft Sub-Committee at ESRI FedUC

Added by USGIF Category: General

The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation’s (USGIF) Tradecraft Subcommittee will host its first quarterly Subcommittee session on February 18 during the ESRI Federal Users Conference at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington DC. This breakout session will be in Room 158-A from 8:00-10:00, and will provide a forum for discussion of stakeholder perspectives on issues, challenges, and opportunities associated with professional certification in GEOINT. Dr. Max Baber, USGIF Director of Academic Programs, will kick off the session with an overview of USGIF initiatives, and we will follow with open dialogue regarding near and long term developments and prospects. To lead more about this session as the ESRI FedUC, read on.

2010 will be an exciting year for the Tradecraft Subcommittee, with a primary focus on the role of industry in developing criteria for professional certification and identifying actions industry can take to help DoD and the IC define and implement a well-defined GEOINT Certification program. The Subcommittee will be hosting monthly meetings/telecons as we establish work plan, schedule and activities taking us through this year. We are soliciting participation from industry partners interested in working with USGIF to help clarify industry’s role as we move through this process. If you are interested in joining the Tradecraft Subcommittee please contact co-chairs Darryl Murdock DMurdock@esri.com and/or Karen J. Metzler Karen.metzler@ngc.com.

Finally, the USGIF Tradecraft Subcommittee would like to thank all of those that were able to attend our lunch-time discussion at the 2009 GEOINT Symposium in San Antonio. The meeting was a great success with healthy exchange between industry and our government presenters. A special thanks to A. Reese Madsen, Jr. , DoD Intelligence Chief Learning Officer and Jack O’Connor, NGA Chief Learning Officer for their presentations on the status of the professional development and certification program currently being developed and implemented across DoD and the IC. We value and appreciate their perspectives and participation as we shepherd this initiative.
