Obama Reluctant to Review Bush Policies; Bush Hopes Interrogation Tactics Continue

It’s virtually impossible to keep everyone happy. Obama knows this and certainly so does President Bush. And when it comes to addressing controversial interrogation techniques, Obama seems to be dancing the line on it — while the PR machinery between Bush and Obama trudges along. On Sunday, Obama signaled that he was unlikely to authorize a broad investigation into Bush programs like domestic eavesdropping or the treatment of terrorism suspects.
Meanwhile, President Bush appeared on Fox News Sunday and expressed his desire for the new administration to keep these programs alive.
What is going on here? It seems that the PR machine between both camps is clearly communicating with each other. Do you think that at the big summit meeting between all living Presidents last week, Bush and Obama had a side conversation about this program, which lead to the communication with each other via the press? One never knows…
