“Castrate the C.I.A. and Americans Will Die,” According to Author

It seems we can’t get past the past (does that make sense?). Rather than focusing on new and emerging threats, the CIA is getting bogged down with what many are calling the “Anti-C.I.A. Witch Hunt” by Eric Holder at the Department of Justice regarding controversial interrogation tactics during the Bush administration. Ralph Peters, author of “The War After Armageddon” published an Op-Ed in Pittsburgh Tribune-Review called “Witch Hunt Threatens the CIA,” and he offers some very strong words about the Obama administration’s investigations of the agency — and we mean very strong. Panetta Does Right Thing by Defending CIA in E-Mail to Agency

Yesterday, the CIA declassified slew of documents that detailed the questionable treatment by the CIA of terrorist suspects. In an effort to defend the agency, CIA Director Leon Panetta sent an e-mail to the agency’s workforce saying it is his “primary interest—when it comes to a program that no longer exists—is to stand up for those officers who did what their country asked and who followed the legal guidance they were given.” He also added that “That is the president’s position, too,” he added.
