PODCAST: Panel of Geospatial Experts Discuss Viability of Commercial Imagery and EnhancedView

Recently a number of geospatial experts have authored articles that highlight the viability of commercial imagery – in the face of the proposed U.S. defense budget cuts, which could potentially have a significant impact on the commercial remote sensing industry. GEOINT Community Well Represented in Washington Post’s Capital Business 200

Since we live, sleep and breath GEOINT, we know just how important industry is to providing key innovations that advance the tradecraft. Though it is very exciting when a major media outlet like the Washington Post also catches on to this and showcases 20 USGIF member organizations in its annual Capital Business 200. In addition to companies like GeoEye, BAE Systems and Booz Allen Hamilton, George Mason University also made the list, which is exciting because both industry and academia are represented. Friday’s Food for Thought: It’s All About Commercial Solutions

One of the biggest stories to happen in the GEOINT sector this week was how a handful of forward-thinking lawmakers asked the Obama administration to avoid cutting a more than $7 billion commercial satellite program being developed by USGIF member companies GeoEye and DigitalGlobe. The move reinforced that commercial imagery will always provide value to coalition forces and our government in general. So, for this week’s theme, we are highlighting all things commercial.
