GEOINT 3.0 Comes to Life During NGA Director’s GEOINT 2011 Keynote Address

At GEOINT 2010, NGA Director Letitia Long’s keynote addressed focused on her game-changing vision of putting the power of GEOINT into the hands of the user. This vision involved taking full advantage of key location-based applications and trends that deliver intuitive and powerful apps for solving a multiple of GEOINT challenges, as well as the importance of empowering users to benefit from this new frontier. Well, the NGA took a step towards bringing this vision to life with the launch of its new public website.

GEOINT Visionary Rob Zitz Retires from Government Service

NGA Director Letitia A. Long on Tuesday afternoon hosted a retirement ceremony for GEOINT visionary Rob Zitz at NGA’s soon-to-be-officially-former headquarters in Bethesda, MD. The event was well attended by current and retired senior leaders from the government, military and industry, to include Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper Jr.

GEOINT 2011 First Round of Speakers Announced – Biggest Leaders of Community Already On Deck

It’s usually around the March timeframe that we start having GEOINT Symposium withdrawals. Seriously, when else can everyone in the community get together and learn from the highest echelon of leaders, network with colleagues, customers, partners and friends — and experience something truly unique (think GEOINT 2010 and the Super Dome)? Well, just when you think you have had enough of winter and need a shot of inspiration, USGIF just announced the first round of keynote speakers for GEOINT 2011, taking place back in San Antonio this year. 2010: A Look Back at GEOINT Leadership, Growth and Innovation (and Jesus Found by StreetView)

2010 seemed to be the year that the GEOINT sector as well as the use of location-based technologies for businesses and consumers really caught fire. The reality is that location-based technologies — whether the use of portal GPS devices, or the adoption of services like FourSquare — have been growing for years, but for some reason 2010 was the year of GEOINT.
