Crowdsourced GEOINT and Humanitarian Relief Efforts

As many in the community know, that National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and members of industry are devoting considerable resources towards bringing the concept of crowdsourced GEOINT to life. As this Spatial Networks post clearly points out, this new frontier can be a powerful force-multiplier for NGA. USGIF wants to explore this topic further at GEOINT 2011 with a breakout session called “Crowd Sourcing Intelligence: A Look at International Disaster Relief & Recovery.” The session will explore the implications of this rapidly evolving geospatial technology for disaster and humanitarian relief efforts.

Welcome to the post-Thanksgiving holiday Monday Morning News Kick Off post from got geoint? We hope everyone had a restful holiday break spent with family and loved ones. Although many of us were enjoying watching football and stuffing our faces with turkey leftovers, the news cycle was churning on in full force.
