It’s a new decade and we are facing a myriad of new threats: al Qaeda in Yemen, Taliban in Afghanistan, natural catastrophes and more. So, welcome to the first official Monday Morning News Kick Off post of the 2010s. There are plenty of news stories to mine as we embark on the fourth day in this new decade. Six CIA officers were killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan, and Yemen has emerged as a new threat in the wake of the attempted terrorist attack on Christmas day when a 23-year-old Nigerian man tried to blow up a Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines flight. So, as we always say, fire up that second cup of coffee as we enter into a new decade.

Monday Morning News Kick Off: The Fall Out After Failed Christmas Terrorist Attack and More

We hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season. While many folks are taking time off between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, it is still Monday and the news cycle keeps cranking on. The big news is the failed terrorist attack that occurred on Christmas day when a 23-year-old Nigerian man to blow up a Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines flight. Certainly a major news story that has caused many to sit up and remember that we are always vulnerable on our homeland. The theme of today’s post is the fallout from this failed attack. So, fire up that second cup of coffee — as we always say — and read on.
