Welcome to the Friday’s Food for Thought post from got geoint? As we highlighted yesterday, it has been a very interesting week for the Intelligence Community. In many ways, the Washington Post story — and the Russian spy story — raised the level of awareness of the IC. One part of the IC that has caught people’s attention is covert intel and the concept of people not fully disclosing who they work for (i.e, an intel agency) — an often romanticized part of the IC. So, if your are wondering if Bob, your neighbor who is always vague about working at the “state department,” is a spy, he most likely is…well, more so if he lives in Chantilly.

This special day is the official first day of summer and is also the longest day in terms of sunlight. So, we thought this week’s FFT post theme could be all about summertime and GEOINT. And, remember the time when summer meant things slowed down in business and government? Well, this no longer happens. Lots of things going on in the GEOINT world this summer. We have the NGA West Showcase, the GEOINT Community Career Fair, ESRI International User Conference and much more.

Friday’s Food for Thought: Don’t Call Me; Text Me Instead Because I’m “Going Mobile”

Welcome to the Friday’s Food for Thought post on got geoint? Do you ever get the feeling that people no longer actually speak to one another? We like to stay within the safe bubble of email and texting as a primary communications vehicle. And do you remember Jerry Seinfield’s classic stand up joke about being surprised when someone actually answers his or her phone – as opposed to the call going to voicemail. So, where are we going with this? The big GEOINT story we covered this week was regarding war fighters using innovative smart phones. We could not help but think that mobile/digital communications is finally everywhere.
