A Tribute to Our Nation’s Heroes: U.S. Veterans
Added by USGIF Category: Daily Intelligence Brief, General
Today is Veteran’s Day, which is a celebration first commemorating the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, when an armistice brought an end to World War I. In 1954, Congress mandated the holiday honor all veterans. Veteran’s Day, a federal holiday, celebrates the service members who survived their experiences in war. For the second year in a row on this blog, the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF), on behalf of its members, staff, and board of directors, would like to pay tribute to all those who have served their Nation, in peace and in war.

USGIF Pays Tribute to Veteran’s Day
Added by USGIF Category: General
Today is Veteran’s Day here in the United States, and on behalf of USGIF’s 155 members, our staff, and our board of directors, I want to pay tribute to all those who have served their Nation, in peace and in war. The idea of geospatial intelligence, or GEOINT, is to better portray the subsurface, surface, and aerospace of the world in order to provide for greater stability and security. The USGIF, as articulated in its 2009 theme, works every day to help build the GEOINT Community, accelerate innovation, and enhance geospatial intelligence tradecraft.
