USGIF Pays Tribute to Veteran’s Day
Added by USGIF Category: General

Today is Veteran’s Day here in the United States, and on behalf of USGIF’s 155 members, our staff, and our board of directors, I want to pay tribute to all those who have served their Nation, in peace and in war. The idea of geospatial intelligence, or GEOINT, is to better portray the subsurface, surface, and aerospace of the world in order to provide for greater stability and security. The USGIF, as articulated in its 2009 theme, works every day to help build the GEOINT Community, accelerate innovation, and enhance geospatial intelligence tradecraft. Whether in support of disaster recovery, humanitarian relief, domestic attack preparedness, nation building, or warfighting, GEOINT plays an increasingly critical role. Let us pause on this day to think about what we do and who we do it for, and move forward with absolute clarity and resolve that we must never falter in our efforts to be ever more effective, efficient, accurate, and timely in the delivery of GEOINT to those whose lives depend on it, and in honor of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of freedom.
