Over the past few years, there has been a sea change in how companies and organizations communicate with customers and constituents. What was previously a “one-way” conversation has now become a participatory environment whereby almost anyone can have a voice in the marketplace.

Web 2.0 and social media strategies, which are now considered mainstream, are driving this trend. In fact, more than 60 million individuals maintain a blog-a user-generated online journal. And, it is estimated that nearly 70 percent of large companies now have established blogs.

It has also been proven that organizations with a well thought-out blogging strategy encourage the strongest community goodwill, which clearly enhances overall success.

Our community also has made some great strides into this new frontier. We have Intellipedia and the Intelligence Community’s A-Space . Both of these efforts foster further collaboration and information sharing on our community, which we wholeheartedly applaud. Now it is our turn to join the party.

As the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF), our mission is to promote the geospatial intelligence tradecraft and build a stronger community of interest for industry, academia, government, professional organizations and individual members. To this end, we are always looking for new and dynamic ways to meet these objectives.

Welcome to got geoint?, the official blog of USGIF and the entire geospatial intelligence community!

got geoint? is a platform for all of us to share ideas and learn about all things geospatial. On an ongoing basis, we will be showcasing interviews with Defense and Intelligence Community leaders, highlighting our members in our “Member Spotlight,” as well as providing a daily round-up of GEOINT-related news in our “Daily Intelligence Briefs.” We will also be focusing an all things hip and cool about our tradecraft.

I urge you all to make got geoint? a regular online destination. But don’t just visit – participate. We want to hear from you and about you. This blog is all about building and sustaining a community. We will highlight your contract wins, new product and service announcements, new hires, etc. We will feature innovative technologies, interesting new training and tradecraft programs, and other things that enhance the vision of GEOINT. You name it … we will cover it.

So, with that I implore you all to jump into the Web 2.0 pool with us and give got geoint? a whirl. I’m not exactly sure where it will take us, but I can promise it’ll be a fun ride.
